The holidays are upon us, which means it’s the perfect time to plan a trip with your significant other. Steer clear of the big cities this year—they’ll be too packed, and you won’t end up spending as much quality time together as you could. Step over to the enchanting atmosphere of small towns and enjoy getting to a deeper level with your loved one. Here are some of our favorite romantic small towns to visit this holiday season—unforgettable memories are on the horizon!
Nantucket, Rhode Island
This tiny island offers a wondrous charm you’ll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. It’s especially beloved in the summer, but the colder months in Nantucket mean empty beaches and much lower prices. Plus, you’ll find tons of romantic locations that are even cozier in the winter. You don’t want to miss them.

Seafood is just what you need this winter—head to the SeaGrille Restaurant for the best in Nantucket.
Amelia Island, Florida
One of the last places in the country where you can legally horseback ride on the beach, Amelia Island is the perfect place to go if you need some sunshine and warm weather. Spend the day meandering the town, and then unwind at one of the quaint historic inns with fireplaces and claw-foot tubs.

Go on a sunset walk or horseback ride along the 13 miles of pristine coastline.
Bend, Oregon
An absolute dream of a location in the wintertime, Bend is sure to make you fall deeper in love with your partner. Warm up after a day outside with a memorable meal made by some of the best chefs in the area!

Put your snowshoes on and head out to a bonfire in the snow—desserts and hot drinks await!
Estes Park, Colorado
Colorado has tons of gorgeous small towns for you and your loved one to experience, but we chose Estes for its convenience. It’s the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, so you won’t be far from some of the most exquisite views in the state. Cozy up in your cabin afterward and listen to the sounds of winter wildlife.
Put this on your romantic to-do list:
Plan a nighttime sleigh ride—it’s perfect for reconnecting with each other and with nature.
Lake Arrowhead, California
90 minutes east of L.A., Lake Arrowhead is located in the San Bernardino Mountains. It offers just as much beauty and powdery snow as its more popular counterpart, Big Bear, but with a quainter atmosphere. It has everything from sledding and tubing to cross-country skiing and cookie decorating, so you’re sure to have an unforgettable vacation.
Put this on your romantic to-do list:
Stay at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa for sweeping lake and mountain views.
Stowe, Vermont
Similar to Colorado, Vermont offers tons of enchanting small towns to fall in love with. We chose Stowe for its surroundings—it’s right in the middle of the mountains, and it offers some of the most angelic views you’ll ever set your sights on. There’s a multitude of activities for you and your partner to enjoy and many ways to unwind afterward.
