Interior Design 101: How To Decorate Blank Walls

If your walls are looking a bit bare and unfinished, but you don’t know where to start, you are definitely not alone. Blank walls are one of the most overlooked elements of interior design and filling them can really take your home’s interior to the next level. Luckily there are easy solutions you can add to your walls to really transform your space. Keep reading below as we break down some of the best ways to decorate your blank walls.

Add Statement Wall Prints

Statement prints to hang on your walls are an easy go-to option to fill out your wallspace and add a focal point to your walls. Large fine art prints are great at adding personality to your home. You could opt for just one statement piece or have a coordinating set of prints that work well together, as well as fill up more space on your blank wall.

There are all sorts of different types of print you could go for which will allow you to match the look and feel you have already created in your home. Line art, photos, graphic text and more; it’ll be easy to find something that works with your style.

Hang Large Mirrors

For a smaller room with little light, adding a large wall mirror would work a treat. Despite the blank walls, your room can end up feeling cramped, even if you’ve purposely not filled the room with too much stuff; it can look pretty plain and dull. That’s why you really should consider adding a big mirror to a wall. It’ll bring so much more light to the room, especially if you’re able to hang it opposite a window and transform your space, changing the whole feel of the room.

Elements like floating shelves not only give you more space for your belongings but can look real sleek too. It’s both functional and decorative. It gives you the opportunity to display belongings that would potentially end up hidden away in a drawer.

You could also experiment with magnetic boards and cork boards, which you might think look too functional, but when thought out, can look really sophisticated. It allows you to get a bit creative and serves as a dynamic feature on your wall that you can add to or even make little seasonal changes throughout the year.

Create A Personal Gallery Wall

If you really want to make your space feel more personal and you have an empty wall free, then you should create a gallery wall. You can make use of all the photos you’ve taken over the year and use that blank wall of yours to display them.
