Is your Home Being Affected by Pests?

Are you not sure if your home is being affected by pests or not? If so, then you have come to the right place. This guide will tell you the main signs you need to look out for, so you can make sure that you’re not putting your home at risk.

You Have Droppings

One major sign that you have pests is if you have droppings in your home. Finding droppings, or brown pellets, can be a major sign that your home is overrun. Deposits can be found in piles that tend to be close to the best. The biggest droppings you will probably find will be around an inch long, and if you see this, there’s a very high chance that you have a squirrel infestation. The Smallest would be the size of a pinhead, and if you have this, then you probably have bedbugs. If you want to find out what pests you have, then you will probably notice other signs as well, but as a general rule, identifying the droppings is one of the best ways for you to find out if you have an issue and how you can actively deal with it.

Gnaw Marks

If you have gnaw marks, then this is another big sign that you have pests. It may be that you see teeth marks around holes and that you also see signs in smaller crevices. Gnawing marks tend to be because of rats, and you’re bound to see them around your skirting boards and around your soft furnishings. Rats and mice will chew things like this to try and make themselves a cosy nest, and if you ignore it, then you may find that the issue ends up getting out of hand very quickly. The nest will be somewhere quiet, such as in an attic or behind a cupboard.  If you want to deal with the issue, then hiring an exterminator is one of the best things you can do.

Bad Smells
If you have bad smells in your home, then this is something you need to deal with. Musty smells can be a sign that you have a plumbing issue, but at the same time, it can also be a big sign that you have pests in your home. Unpleasant smells throughout your home can mean that you have a pest infestation, and it can also mean that you have a lot of droppings as well. Rats and mice will leave strong smells of ammonia, but at the same time, roaches can leave a smell that is similar to vinegar. If you can keep things like this in mind, then you will soon find that you end up being able to pinpoint the source so you can find out what pests you are dealing with. You can then try and find out how they are getting into your home, which is so important if you want to stop them coming back time and time again. Removing any food sources is a good idea as well, so be mindful of that.
