No Storage Space? These 5 Solutions Can Help!

For homeowners with limited storage space, the struggle is real. But fear not; there are solutions that can bring relief and hope. Not every home is blessed with copious amounts of storage or a home that can grow with them as their lives and families grow. A lack of space can be really frustrating and is something many people battle with on a daily basis.

But when you only have a small home or need to increase your storage options, what exactly are your choices?

Storage Shed

A storage shed in your yard can be the perfect compromise for having a dedicated storage space for homes that aren’t blessed with all of the built-in usable storage space. You can purchase Secure Storage Sheds to the size and design you want to accommodate all of the items you need to have stored away for long periods, e.g., season items such as clothing or Christmas decorations; you can house bikes, sporting equipment, or anything else you wish in a shed.

Storage Unit

If keeping your belongings at home isn’t an option, or you don’t have outside space to add a separate building to your yard, using the services of a storage unit company can be the next option. Simply pack up what you need to have put into storage, contact a storage unit company, and book a suitably sized unit for your needs. Most storage units come with excellent security; they’re climate-controlled and can be accessed frequently so you can retrieve your belongings when required.

Hidden Storage

Hidden storage is a versatile and creative option for homes. These multifunctional pieces of furniture can be used around the home to hide things you don’t want on display. They inspire creativity and allow you to think outside the box regarding storage solutions.

Great hidden storage options include under-bed storage seating and stools with space you can use to store items in, tables with drawers, or hidden trunks, enabling them to accommodate many items such as blankets. Look for dual-purpose household furniture that affords you discreet storage options that, oddest, take up any additional room.

Purpose Built Storage

Purpose-built storage is an efficient and effective option for those with awkward corners, low ceilings, and oddly shaped rooms that seemingly waste space. Designing furniture or storage options to fit space perfectly so no real estate is unused can maximize storage options without impacting the flow or aesthetics of your home. This should reassure you that there are solutions out there that can make the most of your space.

Vertical, Not Horizontal

Look up towards the ceiling and see what space you have above eye level going up the wall, not across it. Use spaces above door frames, for example, to house bookshelves, and run shelving around the top of a room to maximize storage options. Use your belongings to create decorative wall art, e.g., sneaker shelves to display your footwear, hat hooks to make a feature of your headwear, get creative with how you store and what you use to decorate the walls. This way, you can make use of vertical space for storage, leaving the floor space free for other uses.
