5 Effective Tips to Sell Your Home Faster

Are you looking to sell your home? With the US being a predominantly seller’s market right now, it’s little wonder that many homeowners are looking to sell up and move on to get the best price for third parties and enable them to move on to new adventures.

However, just because it’s a buyer’s market—as of September 2024, it was taking an average of 4.3 months to sell and 6 to 9 months to fully complete—it’s not a given that your home will sell as fast as you think or would like. In fact, those homes that do sell fast are those that have been configured to appeal to buyers and make the most of the property and its unique features.

Repainting

Repainting your property, both internally and externally, can work wonders. It instantly gives your home a fresh, new look, making it more appealing to potential buyers. Working with a painting contractor to create a more neutral living space and update your walls can truly make your property shine.

Declutter and Depersonalize

Homes that sell faster are those that allow buyers to envision themselves living there without the distraction of the current owner’s belongings. While you don’t need to hide everything, creating a more neutral space can help buyers see the potential of your home.

Use this time to have a good clean-up, declutter, and depersonalize the space. For example, remove some pictures of family and ornaments and work on using your belongings to show off the space, not crowd it. You don’t need to remove everything, but having a good clean-up and thinking minimalistic and clutter-free, can go a long way towards helping your home sell faster.

Stage

Staging your home can be a game-changer in the selling process. While it may be challenging if you’re still living in the property, implementing some staging tips or enlisting the help of expert stagers can significantly enhance your property’s appeal to buyers.

Show Off Features

Does your home have unusual features, such as a built-in bookshelf, a cozy reading nook, or a unique architectural detail? Use these features to your advantage and dress them up or style them to show them off. Show those viewing what the property is capable of and how they, too, can style the rooms despite their unique features.

Clean

Giving your home a good deep clean can be an excellent way to appeal to buyers. A clean property shows that you care about its appearance and is instantly more attractive to anyone, not just buyers. This means the inside and the outside too. You can create a deep cleaning schedule yourself, or you can book a cleaning service that can complete a massive deep clean prior to viewings to enable you to present your home in its best and cleanest light.
