Your guide on how to style Puffer jackets

The puffer jacket has arguably become the ultimate winter essential. Not only are they designed to be comfortable, but they are a perfect item of clothing to protect you from the cold.

Many people who own a puffer jacket appreciate the coolness of the style but struggle to maintain a smooth and slim apparency due to some puffer coats being designed to be larger in size and rather plain.

Some focus on the designs and appearance like the RSO bubble coat, that brings both functionality and high fashion into your coat game.

The good news? The right approach will allow you to have style and comfort.

Balancing warmth with shape

The greatest problem when it comes to looking fashionable in winter is the bulkiness of staying warm. With an absence of balance, the wrong coats have the ability to submerge your frame.

To maintain your appearance, you need to think about your proportions as there are many different jackets you can choose from and what you accompany them with matters too. Many look good with a fitted clothing companion so that you can maintain your silhouette.

You can look into a cropped coat over a normal length coat, or you could even take it as far as to look into full length body coats. It depends on your lifestyle, use of the coat and overall body composition.

Finding the right style for your body

Within this section we will look further into howe to determine which will suit you better. Puffer jackets do not fit everyone as you need to find the right cut as it has the power to change the way the coat looks on you.

  • Cropped puffers are designed to fit shorter bodies by accentuating the waist
  • Fitted puffers are used to have a customized appearance, but no additional volume
  • The long puffers are dramatic and provide coverage, ideally suited for tall individuals
  • Extra-long puffers are the warmest, but require being streamlined on the underside.

All that you have to do is adjust the length and fit of the coat to your proportions. When you are petite, jackets to mid-calf will not work.

Long-line puffers can slim you out all the way down the line, especially if you are tall.

Choosing the right details

Puffers are not all created equal. The details are what count besides the cut.

Think about warmth levels. A mid-tog jacket is suitable for the city, whereas higher togs are good for outdoor activities.

Color plays a big role too. Black, navy and gray are classic and universal. The bright colors, such as red or metallics, say it all.

Even texture is important–matte finishes are more relaxed and glossy finishes give it an edge. Hoods, pockets, zippers and other little details can make your jacket seem more sporty or high-class as well.

How to counteract bulk

The fanciest puffers can add volume. Fortunately, some tricks can be easily used to make it thin.

  • Make it simple with fitted tops and bottoms under.
  • Turn black and white to make a long, sketched line.
  • Select cropped cuts to cut the waist.
  • Change the emphasis by adding some accessories, such as a scarf or slick boots.

Styling a puffer does not have to do with keeping the jacket concealed. It is about making harmony between pieces to make the coat look purposeful.

When to wear which style

Various events will require multiple puffers. Your work jacket may not be suitable for weekends spent outdoors.

Cropped or fitted cuts are clean and sharp to wear on commutes to the city. Long or extra-long coats are ideal for outdoor adventures.

Bright colors and shiny fabrics are a perfect fit if you are oriented to street clothes. And on daily outings, mid-insulation jackets are neutral.

With such a flexible puffer in your hands, you will never go without a coat.

Common style mistakes to avoid

There are some missteps to avoid to make the most out of your puffer jacket.

  • Do not wear a frame that is too wide.
  • Avoid matching the jacket to baggy bottoms, as this doubles the volume.
  • Be aware of the bright finishes that do not match your current wardrobe.
  • Do not forget functionality–style is important, but warmth is what made you put on a puffer in the first place.

Conclusion

Puffer jackets don’t have to feel bulky or hard to style. With the correct cut, always taking notice of your fit and balancing your outfit, you can wear them with confidence.

Cropped, fitted, or extra-long, it doesn’t matter; there is a puffer to suit your body and your lifestyle. The trick is easy, do it yourself.
