Until my stay at Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos, my opinion of all-inclusive resorts leaned toward “meh.” I always carried a little trepidation that the food would be mediocre, the drinks watered down, and the reality far from the paradise promised on social media feeds. I’ve been tempted by those glossy images of white sand beaches and impeccable service before, only to end up with an experience that felt more like a cheap cruise for the masses than a true luxury escape.

When I came across a AAA Five Diamond boutique hotel in Cabo San Lucas that claimed to be one of the “Top Luxury Hotels and Top All-Inclusive Resorts in the World,” my curiosity won out. Could this be the one that finally changed my mind?

The Perfect Girl’s Trip Destination

Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos opened in January 2024 as the newest addition to the Velas Resorts collection. Its sister property, Grand Velas Los Cabos, is family-friendly, while this new location offers an adults-only experience. Many adults-only resorts are designed almost exclusively for couples, but this one turned out to be the perfect choice for a girl’s trip with my best friend.

We were both in search of a getaway that offered more than just relaxation. We wanted something that would help us recalibrate our mind and body, a place where wellness and indulgence existed side by side. Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos gave us exactly that.

My 10 Moments of Bliss at at Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos

Looking back, our stay felt like a collection of small, perfect moments strung together. These are the ones that stayed with me the most:

  • Greet the Day with Room Service and a View: Breakfast on the terrace with the ocean stretching out in front of us.
  • Sip Artisanal Cocktails: Each one is crafted with care and served with a view of the sea.
  • Indulge in a Chocolate and Tequila Tasting: A decadent journey through Mexico’s finest flavors.
  • Experience the Water Ceremony and Massage at SE Spa: A seven-step ritual that reset my entire nervous system.
  • Relax at the Infinity Pool: The line between the water and the Pacific blurred into a single horizon.
  • Take an Exercise Class Beachside: Movement and the sound of waves made every stretch feel restorative.
  • Go Whale Watching: Witnessing these giants offshore was a moment of pure awe.
  • Watch the Sunset Fireside: Golden light fading into night as we sat by the fire with a cocktail in hand.
  • Dine at the Two-Star MICHELIN Cocina de Autor: A meal that was as much art as it was food.
  • Toast the Evening with a Mexican Coffee: A warm nightcap laced with tequila that became our ritual.

My Favorite Foodie Forays at Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos

If I had gone to Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos for the food alone, it would still have been worth the trip. The dining experience was elevated in a way I rarely see at an all-inclusive resort.

  • Room service breakfasts on the terrace felt like private rituals.
  • Brunch at Del Mar offered fresh, local flavors in a relaxed setting.
  • Cocina de Autor was the highlight, a two-MICHELIN-star dining experience led by Chef Sidney Schutte.
  • Mexican coffee spiked with tequila ended every evening on a warm note.
  • Gourmet chocolates made on-site were rich and memorable.
  • Tequila tastings and artisanal cocktails showed the care behind every drink menu.
  • Mexican cuisine at Frida celebrated local flavors.
  • Fresh salads at Roca Bar were light and perfect for afternoons by the pool.

What Makes the AAA Five Diamond Experience

From the moment we arrived, the service set a tone of effortless luxury. Everything felt personal, from the check-in to the smallest in-room detail.

In-Room Touches That Stood Out:

  • A gourmet coffee bar that kept us fueled for sunrise yoga.
  • A welcome bottle of mezcal and fresh fruit that made the room feel instantly inviting.
  • Dyson hair tools alongside slippers and robes for comfort and convenience.
  • A pool bag was waiting for us, ready to use.
  • Evening turndown service with thoughtful touches that made returning to the room a pleasure.

Every suite came with sweeping ocean views, blending a soft neutral palette with touches of Mexican artistry. Having a personal concierge made it easy to relax and focus on the experience itself.

Facilities That Make the Resort Stand Out

  • 79 suites, each with a private terrace and either a plunge pool or jacuzzi.
  • An infinity pool with a view that seems to meet the Pacific.
  • A private beach area perfect for quiet mornings.
  • Technogym fitness center with floor-to-ceiling ocean views.
  • Innovative spa treatments rooted in Mexican culture.
  • Full access to the sister property’s five gourmet restaurants with no extra charge.

The Spa Experience: A New Standard in Relaxation

Our girlfriends’ getaway became a wellness retreat the moment we stepped into SE Spa. The water ceremony was unlike anything I had experienced before. Guided by a spa valet, we moved through seven stages: eucalyptus-scented steam, a chromatherapy sauna, a polar room, and a hydrotherapy shower that felt like a dance of temperatures and pressures across the skin.

We ended with a massage overlooking the pool, sinking into a level of calm I didn’t know I needed. The Dream Chair, designed to reset the nervous system, became our quiet sanctuary. Combined with sound therapy that layered ocean waves with desert night tones, the spa raised the bar for what relaxation should feel like.

A Day in Wellness: Pressing the Reset Button

Our daily schedule read more like a personal wellness program than a vacation itinerary.

  • Power Flow Yoga at sunrise set the tone for the day.
  • The Magnesium Reset Workshop left me feeling energized.
  • The Superfoods Mocktail Class taught us new ways to nourish the body.
  • The Water Ceremony at SE Spa became the centerpiece of the trip.
  • A Facial Skin Care Workshop added a touch of indulgence.
  • Shake and Sculpt Poolside brought movement into the mix.
  • Night Sound Healing under the stars closed each day in peace.

By the end of the stay, I felt like my mind, body, and spirit were aligned again.

The Culinary Peak: Cocina de Autor

Dining at Cocina de Autor was an experience that made the trip unforgettable. Chef Sidney Schutte’s tasting menu told a story through flavor and technique, blending Mexican ingredients with global influences.

Grilled salmon topped with fresh pico de gallo and onions, served with yellow sauce and a side of green salsa on a dark ceramic plate.

Highlights from the Tasting Menu:

  • Escamol with avocado, corn dough, and guajillo.
  • Chocolate clam with jalapeño, corn, and cilantro.
  • Yellow corn velouté with shiitake mushrooms and jicama.
  • Huitlachoche paired with smoked beurre blanc.
  • Angus tenderloin with beetroot and black garlic.
  • Miraflores honey ice cream with Ocosingo cheese.
  • Chilate “Guerrero Inspired” with cinnamon, cacao, and mezcal.
Plated gourmet dish with grilled beets on a bed of creamy sauce, garnished with orange slices, herbs, and delicate crispy leaf-shaped toppings.

Every course was thoughtful and balanced, and the wine pairings elevated the experience into something unforgettable.

Experiences That Made the Trip Unique

  • The Mexican chocolate tasting with 12 distinct flavors was a journey in itself.
  • The Agave Tasting Room offered premium tequilas and mezcals that reflected Mexico’s heritage.
  • Winter whale watching brought us close to some of the ocean’s most majestic creatures.

How This Resort Changed My View on All-Inclusives

Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos completely shifted what I thought an all-inclusive could be. It wasn’t about abundance for the sake of it. It was about carefully curated experiences, service that felt personal, and a balance of indulgence and wellness that left me feeling reset.

It wasn’t just a getaway. It was a reminder that luxury can be thoughtful, that hospitality can be intimate, and that travel can restore more than just your energy.

If you have ever questioned whether an all-inclusive resort can deliver both authenticity and luxury, Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos answers with a resounding yes. For me, it was the perfect girl’s trip and the exact reset I didn’t know I needed.
