Simple Ways to Give Your Home That Showroom Finish

We have all seen the stylish homes on the TV, where every room looks like an art gallery. Every item has a particular place and there isn’t a spec of dust on any of the reflective, smooth, and clearly very expensive furniture. In this article, we’re going to be talking about how you can achieve the ‘showroom house’ look in your home, and why it will please more than just the eye.

Have a feature wall

A common wall to choose for a feature wall is one with a fireplace on, or the largest wall in the room so that it can become the main attraction of the room. You could go for extravagant wallpaper to add a feel of luxury and class to the room instantly. Others choose to simply have their feature wall a darker color and then add some artwork or something to catch the eye. Doing this highlights the best part of the room which makes the structure of the room seem logical. So not only do the walls look good, but because it is laid out in such a way that’s pleasing to the eye, it creates a better ambience.

Flooring

There are so many possibilities when it comes to flooring. Depending on the size of your room, dark tiles can really tie in well with your feature wall. Although, if your room is quite small, you may opt for a lighter colored flooring with a feature rug in the middle of the room. This could be through plush carpet, wooden flooring, or even lino that’s lightly patterned to give the impression that it’s an expensive floor. If you can’t afford expensive carpet, buying thicker underlay will give the carpet a much more expensive feel. You’ll be surprised how much of a difference it really makes!

Windows

Going back to the option of having a feature wall a little, some people choose to structure their feature wall around their window. This works well especially if you have an unusually shaped window in the room, or it’s a bay window. If your windows are rather generic, consider using home window tinting. Not only will it add even more style to the room, but it will bring more privacy and keep the room cooler. This is because it absorbs solar energy from outside of your home, reducing the need to use your air conditioning unit; thus saving you money on your energy bills.

Accessories

Finally, even though the idea of minimalism means to not have personal items on display, the exception within this is ornaments, mirrors and curtains. Having large plush curtains really ties a room together well, even if they’re not in use as such. Large feature mirrors can also create a completely different feel within a room without making it look cluttered. Mirrors often open up the space within a room. Ornaments that are relevant to the room can finish off a room perfectly. For example, having ornamental plates within your dining room will straight away show what the room is for. Just a few cleverly placed trinkets really can change the feel of a room.
