5 Features People Look For In An Airbnb

Airbnb has become one of the most popular ways for people to book accommodation for their travels. In 2024, more than 490 million nights and experiences were booked worldwide. But as the number of users has increased, so have the number of available properties – meaning you could be faced with some competition for stays at yours.

Giving your property an edge is the way to see off the competition and turn your Airbnb into a must-stay. Whether you’re just getting started or have been renting out your property for a while, take a look at five features people look for in an Airbnb.

1. A stylish interior

A stylish interior is top of the list when people are browsing Airbnbs. People tend to look at the photos first, before looking at the detail. If you’re turning your house into an Airbnb or you’ve invested in a property, especially for renting it out, you should think about creating an aesthetically pleasing interior to help draw in guests. From quirky features to clean, modern spaces, create a space that people will be attracted to.

2. The basics!

Before investing in additional features to make your property special, it’s important to get the basics right first. Your Airbnb should offer comfy beds, clean, crisp bedding, a fully-equipped kitchen, and bathroom amenities. Guests will want features such as fast and reliable WiFi, handy kitchen appliances, and plenty of seating options to accommodate the number of guests.

3. An outdoor space

Whether traveling from the city, escaping to the sunshine, or planning a group getaway with friends and family, outdoor spaces are an attractive feature for Airbnbs. Having somewhere to relax outdoors and admire the view gives people the vacation experience they’ve been looking for. Swimming pools and hot tubs are also appealing, especially for group vacations. Make sure your outdoor space is well-maintained to provide the best experience to guests.

4. Indoor entertainment

The outside of your Airbnb is important, but the indoors can make it extra special for your guests. A TV (particularly a smart TV) can be very appealing to visitors, as well as having access to a range of channels and streaming services. A good speaker system is perfect for those wishing to bring the party vibes, while a stack of good board games can also be a huge draw to families or groups looking for some evening entertainment.

5. Local touches

Finally, a little local flavor can be very appealing for Airbnb guests looking to break away from tourist traps or chains. Adding some local touches, like a guidebook, recommendations and a welcome hamper of local treats, is sure to go down a storm. Provide your guests with a warm welcome to help get their visit to your town or city off to the best start.

Airbnb rentals may be competitive, but not all are created equal. Adding some stand-out features could be just what you need to appeal to a wide variety of guests, placing your property well above the competition.
