8 Amazing Bathroom Design Trends for 2020

If this is the year when you plan on redoing your bathroom, you are probably in search of some trends that you can implement into this project. Well, you are in luck as 2020 is full of amazing bathroom design ideas that are not going to become outdated once the year is done, which means you will get to enjoy this space for years to come. Take a look at some suggestions below.

1. Dark colors

Regardless of the color palette you choose for your bathroom, you will not go wrong because everything from pink to neutral has found its place among the trends for 2020. However, one that stands out significantly is dark hues. Dark grey, navy blue and black are all popular choices. In order not to overwhelm the space with such dark shades, professional designers suggest you use these colours for the floor, a statement wall, a centerpiece such as a bathtub or for the vanity and other elements. That way, it will catch the eye and breathe some fresh air into space without making it feel cramped and claustrophobic.

2. Interesting patterns

Besides dark colors, you can also make a statement with an interesting pattern. Now, there are many ways how you can do this. For example, you can put up wallpaper that has an intricate print such as a floral design or a geometric grid. As you don’t want to overwhelm the room, keep it confined to a single wall. Then, you can also use the tiles on the floor or wall to create this pattern. To ensure the print is not too busy, you can add some solid color bath mats that will bring in some balance.

3. A touch of marble

The pattern can also be introduced through marble. Whether you decide to get marble walls, floors or an element like the sink, the veining of the marble will add contrast and texture to the room. If real marble is not within your budget, you can look for more affordable alternatives that create the same effect or at least find wallpaper that mimics the patterns of marble.

4. Mixing metals

Replacing the hardware is something that can be done in a day and will make a big impact. While most of us want all the elements to match, this can be too much sometimes. Not everything from the light fixtures to the handles and taps has to be brass – you can have matt black taps while the chandelier and the sconces can be brass, for example. Plus, quieter metal finishes such as gunmetal are going to be very popular this year.

5. Wood accents

Another big trend you can consider finding a place for in your bathroom is wood accents. They go really well with the industrial style if that is something that you are thinking about incorporating. What’s great about wood is that it comes in many different shades so that it works great with all sorts of color schemes. Whether you choose black, blue or pink for your bathroom, you will be able to find a type of wood that pairs nicely with it. Furthermore, you can use it for the vanity, floating shelves, bath tray and mirror frames, among other things.

6. Asymmetrical mirrors

Speaking of mirrors, they also come in a variety of models. While you can choose one or a few with a wooden frame, you can also go frameless. This is, however, not what is in the focus when it comes to mirrors. In 2020, the main trend concerning mirrors is asymmetry. So, look for odd shapes, place them in unconventional spots and don’t let the sink dictate where the mirror will be located (even if this is not the most practical of trends).

7. Corner baths

In case your bathroom is very big and you are looking for a way to fill up space, you can consider adding a corner bathtub. They are mostly used for relaxation and soaking in warm water while surrounded by scented candles, so definitely think about it if this is an activity you cherish. These tubs can be built into the corner or freestanding, which also means that you can choose the model and color you want it to be.

8. Smart technology

Finally, 2020 is also the year of incorporating technology into the bathroom. There are more and more apps and devices that we can use to make our bathroom experience more serene and enjoyable. For example, the voice control option allows you to listen to your favorite songs, books or podcasts while relaxing in the tub, without worrying about your phone or laptop getting wet. You can hear the latest news, watch a TV show and make phone calls while getting ready. Moreover, smart technology also helps us conserve water, so get low-flow showerheads, taps and toilets as well.

If any of these trends fit your aesthetic and work well with space at your disposal, don’t hesitate to add them to your bathroom because they are here to stay for the foreseeable future.
